A modern part-side and rear modern extension was designed to create a large open plan kitchen and dining family space with closed off snug. The slight re-ordering of the internal ground floor plan pushed a study into some of the garage space to make room for the new snug to the rear behind the new kitchen. The snug room was in the form of a rendered wedge with the rest of the extension clad in vertical timber cladding. The design included for the existing house to be rendered to tie in with the wedge shaped extension.
